Usually the final window on your chocolate advent, contained a larger chocolate, quickly to be scoffed down before breakfast. So in the same spirit, I have put up our final advent in the early hours of the morning, with a special treat. Not only does this little illustration animate, but for an added bit of fun, the first person to comment with the name of the artist wins an art print. (its easy really, its Christmas, and I am feeling generous).

Thank you to all our readers and supporters this year, have an awesome Christmas and new year. We look forward to bringing you bigger and better things in the new year.

Kareem Rizk is a Melbourne based Australian artist. Rizk works in various mediums include collage, acrylic, oil pastel, pencil, solvent transfers and acrylic transfers as well as digital collage. The work is highly textured and often multi-layered with a nostalgic, vintage and weathered quality.

Kareem Rizk has been showcased in several galleries and published in many magazines. You can buy prints of his work from his etsy store or visit his website.

Happenstance Magazine is an independent Sydney-based print publication, which doesn’t forsake style for substance or substance for style. It’s all about making things happen; art, design ,music and the written word, as well as the people who create them.

What started as a bit of fun, has eventuated into an awesome independent magazine.

Happenstance recently launched their first issue, including stories on Sydney’s Independent galleries, bikes and a glimpse into the bedroom of Sydney artist James Jirat Patradoon.

It is a limited edition publication, with each issue individually numbered. And our friend Aaron, art director of Happenstance has given us 5 copies to give away to 5 lucky winners.
